Fume Hood Testing
Air Solutions & Balancing offers comprehensive testing of chemical fume hoods following the ASHRAE-110 guidelines. All testing is performed and compliant with state, federal and international safety standard guidelines. Fume hoods are tested in accordance with AIHA/ANSI Z9.5, ASHRAE-110 and OSHA.
We provide quantitative data used to evaluate the containment performance of fume hoods including:
- Local and large volume smoke visualization testing – verifies acceptable capture performance for the unit
- Cross-draft testing – measures the amount of vertical and horizontal cross-current activity at the face of the unit
- VAV (volume air-volume) testing – determines the optimal fume hood sash positions and acceptable stabilization time for the unit
- Tracer gas containment testing – verifies containment and re-entrainment of the unit by simulating a controlled chemical release inside the fume hood and monitoring
Texas A&M University
Our technicians worked directly for the General Contractor on the Texas A&M campus and provided test, adjusting and balancing services at the Engineering Research building. Among the many systems balanced were Siemen’s Fume Hoods: Vertical, Horizontal, Combination and Perchloric
Oxford Nanopore Technologies
Air Solutions & Balancing’s technicians conducted both face velocity and smoke visualization testing on fumehoods in their research and development laboratory.
At Southern New Hampshire University’s campus, Air Solutions technicians performed smoke visualization and face velocity testing of fume hoods located in their labs throughout their chemistry department.
Does Air Solutions & Balancing certify fume hoods?
We provide a quantitative analysis of the hood’s performance for the customer to determine if the performance meets their corporate safety standards.
